The Hon Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe in company of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Dupe Adekeye and some of the management staff today in an inspection tour to the permanent dumpsite at Sokoto Ayekale to ascertain the level of work done at the site.
This is in furtherance of the need for expansion of the path ways to the inner cubits for adequate waste disposal.
Banigbe noted that there is need for division of the site into compartment using a barricade to avoid littering of the disposed waste by scavengers.

The Kwara State Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW), under the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Intervention Programme, is set to deploy 1,025 beneficiaries across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State. This is sequel to an earlier approval by the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to carry out the deployment exercise in the 16 Local Government Councils of the State. With this approval, public work activities by LIPW selected beneficiaries drawn from the Single Register of Poor and Vulnerable Households, is to commence simultaneously in all the 16 Local Government Areas of the State with effect from next week Tuesday. Each of the 1,025 beneficiaries would receive the sum of N10, 000 as monthly stipend, and shall be expected to clean public institutions and utilities in their immediate communities for a maximum period of four hours per day, excluding weekends and public holidays. The Kwara State Government has called on the people of the state to remain health-conscious during and after the festive period of Sallah celebrations. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe made the call today in Ilorin during the monitoring of environmental sanitation exercise for the month of April. She said the sanitation exercise was a modified one due to preparations for the Sallah celebrations across the globe, stressing that as a government which is concerned about the wellbeing of the people, it became imperative for the government not to restrict people's movement so as to allow them have access to basic necessities and allow visitors coming in for the Sallah celebrations.
