In its effort to curb the incessant dumping of refuse indiscriminately in the environment, the state Commissioner for Environment, Hon Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh with her team today embarked on a tour round the Ilorin metropolis  to sensitize the people on the need to maintain a clean and green environment to avoid health hazards and the proper way in managing the waste generated for adequate evacuation by the waste contractors.

Illegal Itakudima Dumpsite To Be Evacuated- Banigbe

Against the backdrop of the rising wave of illegal dumpsites within Ilorin, the  Kwara State Capital, the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe, yesterday paid an unscheduled visit to Itakudima, Zuban Area,  in Ilorin West Local Government, to assess the volume of wastes at the illegal dumpsite in the area. The visit was part of the state government's efforts to curtail illegal dumpsites, especially in the Ilorin metropolis. The Commissioner, who was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Dupe Adekeye, noted that the waste has constituted a big threat, as well as posing a serious danger to the people living in the area.
