The Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, has urged residents of the state to support the government in sustaining the Clean and Green programme by further prioritizing the Monthly Environmental Exercise in their surroundings.
She condemned the habit of people who dump waste on the road medians, saying indiscriminate disposal of wastes constitute great health hazards.
Buraimoh, who made the call on a Radio Programme in ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, also expressed dissatisfaction with the spate of tree felling, a trend which she noted could have negative impact on climate change .
The commissioner advanced the view that undisturbed forest and massive afforestation plays vital roles in ameliorating climate change.
She noted that the planet could live without people but people can not live without the planet.

Buraimoh therefore appealed to the people of the state that "whenever a tree is being felled, five other trees should be planted as replacement for the sustainability of good atmospheric conditions of the state.
Ministry's official who accompanied the Commissioner to the radio program include: Director of Environment, Mr Towoju Gabriel, Director, Forestry, Alhaji Babatunde Idris Mahmud and other principal officials of the ministry.
