ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE : ADHERE STRICTLY TO SANITATION LAWS OR FACE THE PENALTY - KWSG

Following the incessant violation of Environmental Sanitation Laws by residents of the State, the Kwara State Government has apprehended about 200 people for immediate prosecution accordingly. The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe made the disclosure today, during the monitoring of the monthly sanitation exercise in the Ilorin metropolis to ascertain the level of compliance. Banigbe noted that everyone as a citizen of the state has a role to play in making sure that the exercise is always a success, adding that there are sanitation laws governing the state and should be strictly adhered to. Kwara State Monthly Sanitation Exercise Holds Saturday June 25th, 2022.

This is to inform the general public that the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of June will hold on Saturday 25th, 2022 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Members of the public are hereby enjoined to fully participate in the sanitation exercise by cleaning their residential and business environments.   Everybody is expected to stay at home to clean up their surroundings.                           The monitoring agencies will be on ground to monitor compliance and it will be strictly observed across all the 16 Local Government Areas in the  State.      According to a release issued by the Ministry of Environment, there will be no vehicular and human movement except  those on essential services; Medical personnels, Journalists and Security agencies. Indiscriminate Dumbing of Refuse: KWSG Warns Market Traders*

* The Kwara State Government has again  warned traders at Sunday Sunday Market, Kulende, Sango area in Ilorin to desist, henceforth, from indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the road medians and drainages. The traders were equally given a marching order to maintain the road setback and adhere strictly to other environmental laws in the state to avoid being sanctioned. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe handed down the warning during her visit to the market, in a bid to ensure that the state keeps pace with global environmental standard. *KWSG Evacuates Illegal Dumpsites in Ilorin* The Kwara State Government through the Ministry of Environment, has evacuated illegal refuse site at Budo Osho, along Jugdes' quarters, Tanke area in Ilorin. This is part of the state government efforts to get  rid of illegal dumpsites in the state, most especially in Ilorin, the state capital. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe led the evacuation team to carry out the exercise at the weekend, during an inspection tour of the area to ascertain the level of refuse evacuation by the supervisor. The Kwara State Government has said that adequate care for the earth will prolong a healthy living for the citizenry. Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe gave this indication at the celebration of the 2022 World Environment Day in Ilorin, the State Capital. Environmental Law Offenders Risk Penalties- KWSG

The Kwara State Government has again cautioned  kwarans to desist from sabotaging the government's effort in making sure of adequate waste management and creating hygienic environment for citizenry. The state Commissioner for Environment, Hon Remilekun Banigbe gave this warning today during an inspection tour to Ilorin metropolis to ascertain the level of the compliance of the people towards adequate waste disposal. Banigbe expressed her displeasure over the alarming rate at which some people still persist in indiscriminate dumping on road medians and other unauthorized places and not making use of the rorobins placed for usage. KWSG APPREHENDS ENVIRONMENTAL VIOLATORS*

In its effort to ensure environmental sanity in the State, the Kwara state Government has today  apprehended and prosecuted some environmental law offenders for violating the environmental laws.  The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe gave this indication during the monitoring of the proceedings of the mobile courts set up at Odota, Airport axis and Flower Garden, GRA, Ilorin. Hon. Banigbe noted the  need to set up the mobile courts where the law violators will be fined immediately because some residents repeatedly violate the environmental law, stating that the exercise will be a continuous process until serenity is attained in the State. She said some of the culprits were sanctioned with an option of fine at the sum of  N20,000 or a minimum of 1 month jail term or both, as sentenced by the courts. Hon.
