Environmental Sanitation: KWSG Tasks Kwarans To Be Health-conscious*

The Kwara State Government has called on the people of the state to remain health-conscious during and after the festive period of Sallah celebrations. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe made the call today in Ilorin during the monitoring of  environmental sanitation exercise for the month of April. She said the sanitation exercise was a modified one due to preparations for the Sallah celebrations across the globe, stressing that as a government which is concerned about the wellbeing of the people, it became imperative for the government not to restrict people's movement so as to allow them have access to basic necessities and allow visitors coming in for the Sallah celebrations. Clean Environment: Kwara Commissioner Sensitizes Traders.

The newly-deployed Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe, toured some parts of the Ilorin metropolis to call the attention of the public in adequate waste management so as to intensify the effort of making sure the state is free of dirt to avert epidemics. Banigbe gave the indication of the need for the market leaders to have dialogue with the traders to create a space where the new rorobins will be placed in the market. She stressed the need to maintain  road setbacks in all market places to avoid the loss of lives and properties and traffic hold-ups, noting that the rorobins placed at strategic places in market areas should be maintained adequately to avert any damage. KWSG Set to Deploy 1,025 Youths Across the 16 LGAs for Public Work Activities*

The Kwara State Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW), under the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Intervention Programme, is set to deploy 1,025 beneficiaries across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State. This is sequel to an earlier approval by the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to carry out the deployment exercise in the 16 Local Government Councils of the State. With this approval, public work activities by LIPW selected beneficiaries drawn from the Single Register of Poor and Vulnerable Households, is  to commence simultaneously in all the 16 Local Government Areas of the State with effect from next week Tuesday. Each of the 1,025 beneficiaries would receive the sum of N10, 000 as monthly stipend, and shall be expected to clean public institutions and utilities in their immediate communities for a maximum period of four hours per day, excluding weekends and public holidays. Brace Up To Maintain Clean Environment: KWSG Urges Kwarans*

* The Kwara State Government has again  urged kwarans to brace up in the habit of maintaining cleanliness, and avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the Ilorin metropolis and other parts of the State, to avert any outbreak of epidemics. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh made the call in Ilorin, during an inspection tour of the metropolis to monitor the rate of compliance of the people with regards to environmental sanitation laws. The Commissioner described the unhygienic  attitude of residents of the state capital as worrisome, especially Adeta roundabout where illegal dumping of refuse still persists, after the Ministry's intervention in clearing the nuisance. Buraimoh noted with great concern that such unhygienic habit of the people was very disturbing  to the state government, pointing out that the present administration will leave no stone unturned to  achieve its goals of making the state safe for everyone.
