MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL EXERCISE - 300 ARRESTED

Following the violation of Environmental Sanitation Law, the Kwara State Government has effected the arrest of over 300 people for immediate prosecution. The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, disclosed this over the weekend, during the monitoring of the monthly excercise, in Ilorin metropolis. The Commissioner, who led the enforcement team alongside the Chairman, Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Taskforce, Air Vice Marshal, Ishaq Balogun, (rtd), warned that the current dispensation has zero tolerance for environmental pollution and would stop at nothing to keep Kwara clean. Buraimoh explained that the need to arrest the violators became necessary, in order to put an end to environmental nuisance in the state. Buraimoh Cautions Against Indiscriminate Waste Dumping, Tree Felling

The Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, has urged  residents of  the state to support the government in sustaining the Clean and Green programme by further prioritizing the Monthly Environmental Exercise in their surroundings. She  condemned the habit of  people who dump  waste on the road medians, saying indiscriminate disposal of wastes constitute great health hazards.  Buraimoh,who  made the call on a Radio Programme in ilorin, the Kwara State Capital,  also expressed dissatisfaction with the spate of  tree felling, a trend which she noted could have negative impact on climate change .  The commissioner  advanced the view  that undisturbed forest and massive afforestation plays vital roles in ameliorating climate change. Kwara State Monthly Sanitation Exercise Holds Saturday February 26th, 2022.

This is to inform the general public that the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of February will hold on Saturday 26th, 2022 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Members of the public are hereby enjoined to fully participate in the sanitation exercise by cleaning their residential and business environments.   Everybody is expected to stay at home to clean up their surroundings.                           The monitoring agencies will be on ground to monitor compliance and it will be strictly observed across all the 16 Local Government Areas in the  State.      According to a release issued by the Ministry of Environment, there will be no vehicular and human movement except  those on essential services. KWSG LAMENTS DANGERS OF INDISCRIMINATE DUMPING OF REFUSE* ...calls for strict adherence to environmental laws

* Perturbed by the indiscriminate disposal of refuse within the Ilorin metropolis, the Kwara State Government has lamented the dangers inherent in the act and the need for the people to adhere strictly to environmental laws of maintaining a clean and green evironment to avoid epidemic. The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh disclosed this today during an interface with the State Stakeholders Association on Environmental Issues, held at the Ministry's Headquarters, Ilorin. The Commissioner said the meeting became imperative to brainstorm on proffering solutions as government is disturbed by the unhygienic habits of some residents, who  dumped refuse indiscriminately without recourse to the health implications on the people. Kwara Environments Commissioner inspects the level of waste management: _says indicriminate dumping will not be condoned

In its bid to make the state clean and conducive for the people, the Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Hon Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh made an inspection tour round the ilorin metropolis to check the level of compliance with waste management policies. The Commissioner said the rate at which people dump  refuse indiscriminately will not be condoned anymore as it poses threat to health. Buraimoh, while sampling the opinion of some  residents in ilorin metropolis said waste generated should be managed adequately to avoid the spread of any form of epidermic in the state.
