The Commissioner for Environment, Hon Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pastor Abraham Kola Ojo and the Director of Environment, Mr Towoju Gabriel in an inspection tour to the permanent dumpsite at  Sokoto Ayekale, Eyenkorin, Ilorin to ascertain the level of clearing of the dumpsite for adequate dumping of refuse by the waste collectors bringing waste from the ilorin metropolis.

KWSG Set to Deploy 1,025 Youths Across the 16 LGAs for Public Work Activities*

The Kwara State Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW), under the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Intervention Programme, is set to deploy 1,025 beneficiaries across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State. This is sequel to an earlier approval by the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to carry out the deployment exercise in the 16 Local Government Councils of the State. With this approval, public work activities by LIPW selected beneficiaries drawn from the Single Register of Poor and Vulnerable Households, is  to commence simultaneously in all the 16 Local Government Areas of the State with effect from next week Tuesday. Illegal Itakudima Dumpsite To Be Evacuated- Banigbe

Against the backdrop of the rising wave of illegal dumpsites within Ilorin, the  Kwara State Capital, the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe, yesterday paid an unscheduled visit to Itakudima, Zuban Area,  in Ilorin West Local Government, to assess the volume of wastes at the illegal dumpsite in the area. The visit was part of the state government's efforts to curtail illegal dumpsites, especially in the Ilorin metropolis. The Commissioner, who was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Dupe Adekeye, noted that the waste has constituted a big threat, as well as posing a serious danger to the people living in the area.
